Great graphic design is powered by great font selection. But picking great fonts is a challenge most people. Luckily, Canva has made adding great fonts to your designs much easier. In this tutorial, our team of design experts will cover the best free fonts in Canva.

What Are Free Canva Fonts?

Free fonts are the fonts that come pre-loaded on the free version of Canva. To see which fonts are free and which Canva fonts are only accessible to paid Canva users, open a Canva design, add some text, and click on the font drop down menu, which will open a larger font menu in the left-hand side bar:

Canva Free Fonts Menu

You can now scroll through the entire list of Canva fonts.

So how do you know which fonts specifically are for free users?

Fonts without a crown icon (♛) to the right of a font, are free Canva fonts. Fonts for paid Canva users are denoted with a crown icon beside them.

For example, as illustrated in the screenshot below, Alta is a free Canva font (there is no premium icon beside the font text). In contrast, Afrah is a paid Canva font (with the crown icon (♛) next to the name of the font).
